In order to register your trashcan for a 5 year warranty you have to download this app and sign up with your phone number so that they can try and sell you “liners.” I can’t believe they have a trash bag subscription plan. This is terrible user experience. Can’t ask for phone number right off the bat, you gotta do email or sign in with Google or Facebook is even better and super easy to implement these days. Someone in management made a bad desicion pushing this phone marketing. I’m not going to follow through with this registration and if my trashcan breaks in 5 years I’ll just buy a new one because I don’t want to give my phone number.

Simplehuman has lost me as a customer. I have products already registered at simplehuman. When I opened the app today to register something new, I found that they have now forced users to give up their phone number for their use and abuse. There is no option — my email no longer is my login. Even if you opt out of their garbage marketing emails, they can sell or trade your number, which, believe me, they will do no matter what they say. Why no option for an email? When other reviewers ask this question they are met with a generic soulless corporate non-answer reply. It’s 2025, and companies that still betray trust like this don’t deserve our support. It’s Easy

The app is easy to use. Delivery is fast. Products are great. What more do you need?

Garbage app now

You have to provide a phone number and agree to text messages to even use this app now. If you don’t, you can’t shop. Lost me as a customer now

Beautiful but Flawed

The aesthetic of the app is great but it has too many issues to justify using it. One thing that really bugs me is when I try to order trash bag replacements it only allows me to get huge packs of them. The website offers packs of 30 or 60 whereas I have to buy at minimum 120 on the app for some reason. Also, there is no way to enter a coupon code during the buying process on the app. SimpleHuman was the one who gave me the coupon code so I’d like to just use the one that came with my trash can! I went through the process of adding items to a cart and could not find anywhere to input this info. Very frustrating. Will leave as 1 star until these very simple issues are fixed. For now I’ll order on the big bad Bezos app.

Terrible navigation

Have someone on your team try to buy two 6 pouch selections of two different soaps in the same order. It seems to be impossible from the app. There is no “cart” I can freely navigate to or add items to. I can only add items if it’s the default size, 2 pouches in this case. If I select 6, my only option is to buy immediately before selecting the next product. Did you really not test for just buying more than one thing? Seems like a pretty common use. I love the products, but this app is bad.

Doesn’t work

The app boots me out to the App Store, telling me I need to update it, but it is already the most current version of the app. Before this mess it was failing to complete a transaction using ApplePay, always with an error.

can’t buy anything

what’s the point of an app to place refill orders and browse and buy new products if there is no cart or way to access the cart?

Can’t add multiple items to cart

This app is beautifully designed however you can’t add multiple items to a cart and purchase. You have to make multiple purchases. I see other reviews saying the same thing. Having a cart where you can add multiple items is essential in this day and age. It used to have that feature…why would it be removed.

Quick order placements

The app makes it so easy to place orders. Shipping is usually very quick.

Terrible

How can a company that makes such nice products make a terrible app? Even Applepay doesn’t work!

Lack basic functionality

This app has little value, aside from a few narrow uses, like ordering more trash bags. Years ago, I ordered from Simplehuman from a different email address. Ever since, I’ve used another email address. All of my warranties are registered under the second address. It’s the only address I’ve logged in with or made any purchases with in over a year. But when I login to the app, it requires a phone number. It associates my number with the old email address. I can’t login under my current account. Such a bizarre way to login. You can’t manage your account in the app, so there’s no way to fix it. I just deleted the app. Website works fine. The app adds no value.

Easy to make an order for additional liners through the SimpleHumane app. (Go Apple App Store)

No Search or Support Options in App

It’s a vanity app only. Not useful for finding support or searching for replacement parts. No search is a basic feature. Oh well. —- Simplehuman support reached out so I gave a couple additional stars for good customer support. The app still needs work.

Needs work…

I’ve been using your products for years and decided to use the app for recurring orders for liners. Well… 1)Can’t even sign in to the app. First I’m asked for my phone number which I provide, put in the code that was texted to me. Then, I figured I should be given the option to either SIGN IN or create an account. Most people would already have an account. Not given the option, I enter my email address that’s associated with the account I already have…….. 2)Never received a code to my email address. Could it be because that’s associated with an account already or is the app just not working. So, why use the app. I can just sign in and order like I’ve been doing.

Requires mobile number to use

In have a simplehuman account with my email and thought to try to use the app. But I couldn’t find a way to login in without providing a cell phone number rather than use my email login. Not very useful to require the mobile number when the web login succeeds with email only. Uninstalled and going to continue using the website.

Completely useless

A useless app from a company that otherwise makes excellent products. If you can’t even get past the login screen because it asks for both your phone number, sends a code, then your email, sends a code to your email, which then keeps getting rejected because of some bug, then what is even the point? Please fix this, and please fix your website’s compatibility with safari mobile. The login button doesn’t even work on the mobile website which is why I tried to use the app but that doesn’t work either. It’s not a good look; Simplehuman can do WAY better.

Immediate Delete - Unusable

Immediately have to agree to spam texts to use app? Bad but alright.. App then wont accept email verification code because “something went wrong”? Delete.

Ridiculous

I have been trying to delete an item in my check out (cart but really no cart) so that I can purchase the other things I want and it won’t allow it. It’s almost as if it’s trying to make me purchase items I don’t want in order to get the ones I do want. So I can’t take advantage of the early access Black Friday Sale because it is only offered on the mobile app. Online & mobile app need to be linked. So shameful. Will be deleted!

Verification broken; for your sanity, avoid at all costs

This app is consistently garbage. I’ve checked back every couple months for the past few years and there is always a catastrophic failure of the moment that makes it unusable. The current draw is a 30% off Black Friday event with early access only on the app - but it doesn’t give you an option to just login if you already have an account, and the verification procedure involves getting a code both to your email and phone number. This rarely works (never get a code), and if it finally does, the system just comes up with an error and can’t move you forward in the process. Just a sad, useless attempt at a mobile app.

Can’t update cart

The app crashes when you delete 2 items from your cart. You have no way of removing items after it’s been added to cart.

Impossible to get past set up

I have tried no short of 10 times to use app. It ask for phone, okay. Next it asks for email, okay, code entered and it just continues to say there was a problem, try again. I have a log in from site, why can’t I just use that instead of being stuck before even getting in! So frustrating, missing the app only sale because of this.

Great design, horrible execution!!!!!

Worst buying experience on an app ever. We tried 3-4 different cards but it claimed our address was wrong (that was when we could even get to that part because sometimes it wouldn’t leave the cc # screen after typing in). I then tried to use USPS website to get the longer zip, didn’t work. Only reason I put up with it was to help my mom. It took 2 hrs of this because sometimes it would drop stuff out of cart. Tried saving the info under profile, nope, tried logging into my moms account where she has stuff saved, nope info wasn’t there. Not to mention the times I had to shut down the app to get to a different screen because it would get stuck on one screen. Won’t ever use again. Wow.

How do you check out? I want to buy something but can’t find the cart.

No 30% off as advert

Received emails that if I downloaded the app, I could get 30% off. Well, of course the item that I wanted was not marked as 30% off. The ad didn’t say 30% off some items, only. Very frustrating. There’s no point by buying now vs waiting a month from now to save up money for an expensive soap pump. I think this is deceptive advertising.

Great brand that should invest in better app developers

The brand is great, however the app is atrocious. I can’t receive items from my cart, it add them back again. They real Black Friday deals are only available on the app at this time. How am I suppose to shop on the app if it’s not working. The deals should be available on the website with all these app technical issues!

Can’t become new user

It requires a 6 digit code from your phone, but doesn’t send a code.

Bad UX

The worst user experience I have ever had. It alway takes me to a screen like advertisement but doesn’t allow me to keep browsing or checking my order until I close the app and start it again. The other issue is that in my order list screen, if I click any order and back to the list, all items will be duplicated infinitely. Last but not least, I like simplehuman products but forcing user to download the app in order to get Black Friday deal makes me feel uncomfortable.

Won’t send code so can’t use

Want to take advantage of a discount only available on the app. App only available on Apple devices, so can’t use my Android phone to get the app. So using iPad. But when I get to the point of having to enter a phone number for a code, no code is sent. I have tried several times, restarted, but no luck.

expected more from this luxury brand

I am experiencing some bug where The cannot remove items from my shopping cart and check out. It seems to get stuck recalculating the total after I remove an item and i’m unable to check out with apple pay. Super frustrating. Also I can’t add bag liners to my order?! It had to be a separate transaction. And as others have mentioned the inability to sync my cart between the app and the website despite requiring a login to even use the the app doesn’t make sense. Doing the black friday sale through the app only is also hella sus.

Site Needs Revamping

I like Simple Human products however, this site has horrible navigation! I tried ordering a few items for early Black Friday access and it wouldn’t even budge. Also, there is no log out access which leaves you wide open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but the same thing keeps happening. Someone needs to fix these issues asap.

Too much info needed

I have no idea what the app is like because you can’t even get started on the app without entering your phone number and email. That should be information only needed if an order is going to be placed or if I choose to setup an account. I am tired of all these companies just doing what they can to get your info and then send 1000 emails a week.

Simplehuman sent me an email with a 30% discount, but it required the purchase to be made in their app. The app won’t allow you to use it without providing your phone number and agreeing to receive texts. No thank you. I will buy from a different company.

Complex App w Bells & Whistles Oh My

Some app developer or marketer sold this wonderful company a bill of goods. The conpany is called Simple Human - this app, Anything But. Let me shop. Rotating pics, shop by function but no way to get to Laundry-which was what I was looking for. I work in IT. This app is useless, all hat no cattle. Signed Disappointed

Terrible app

Filled a cart with Black Friday sales and couldn’t find a way to check out. Poorly designed app, huge waste of time. Lost a customer.

Need to add a shopping cart and the absorbs pods starter pack.

Love the app visually. The colors are great and it’s very clear to see. Look forward to this being more functional, but as others have mentioned before there’s no way to add different items to a shopping cart. I was looking for the absorbs pods starter pack which is not available on the app as well. Thank you

Useless for shopping anything

I tried multiple times to order through the app yesterday. Finally gave up and went to the website. It kept telling me I had to update the delivery/shipping address (which I did several times although it was 100% correct).

Can’t register without phone number.

“By becoming a member, you agree to receive text messages and emails to get exclusive offers and early access to new products.” No I don’t agree, so you don’t need my phone number. I’ve never seen a company make you to agree to this before signing up. Maybe you can turn off in setting AFTER signing up but I wouldn’t know because I won’t join under these forced conditions. I’ve personally never seen a commercial app that mandated a phone number. You should really review your stance on this. I am sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. I bet you are losing more potential income with this practice than you would lose by removing the phone mandate. Missed opportunity. I would have loved to join.

Wouldn’t let me register

How am I suppose to use the app if you keep denying my phone number..? I put the “+1” in front nothing, I tried getting rid of the automatic “()-“ format nothing, is it that you only take certain area codes orrrr…

Unusable

App won’t complete purchase due to “invalid shipping address” even though prior purchases have shipped to the exact same address without issue.

Broken App

Any attempt to click on an item fails where the screen flashes a reload icon and then returns, so I am unable to purchase more liners for my trash.

Apple Pay Issues

Apple Pay doesn’t work at all, no matter how many addresses I try there’s an issue with an “invalid shipping address”. This problem is nonexistent in other applications which leads me to believe the developer is missing key code to validate the address.

I wish you could actually buy things through the app

What is the point of having a app that shows products but doesn’t allow you to actually buy them? Keeps saying my shipping address is invalid.

Just so Bad

Cannot place an order. Keeps saying invalid shipping address. This is my address!! No one available to chat to about this per their support. They rope you in to join to get free shipping but you can’t place an order!!
